Fascinating story of Julia “Butterfly” Hill, who sat in a redwood tree for over 2 years in 1997-1999 to protest logging. Eventually her tree-sit, and the media around it, compelled Pacific Lumber Co to agree to not cut down the trees there. This is the story that inspired Idina Menzel’s new Broadway show, Redwood.
