Confessions of a Good Samaritan
Really enjoyed this documentary about altruistic kidney donors made by an altruistic kidney donor: a person who opts into donating their kidney to a stranger. Came away from it knowing more about organ transplantation and the nature of altruism. What moves someone to do something that selfless for someone they don’t and won’t ever know? The filmmaker was quirky and vulnerable, clearly uncomfortable being in front of the camera. It was a real-time portrait of someone wrestling with a decision they made to do a hard thing, and then as they get ready to do that hard thing, wondering if they’re nuts. We can all relate.
