Into the Woods Jr. at middle school

Theater 2025 A+

My kid’s middle school musical was a smash hit, garnering standing ovations from every parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, and nanny who managed to get a ticket for a seat in the packed school gymnasium. The Into the Woods Jr. book managed to cut a 2-hour story into a tight hour and 15 minutes with intermission. A total of 85 students, faculty, staff, and volunteers worked for 7 months to put together this extraordinary production’s limited 2-night run. The show involved over 40% of the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in the middle school. My kid’s theatrical debut was playing a tree in the ensemble–virtually a starring role because the story is about the woods, which are made of trees. Thanks, Sondheim.
