Severance

Season 1: Utterly captivated by the concept, production design, and acting in this show. I’m especially in love with the Lumon office and technology design, those beautiful old-school terminals, clickety keyboards with the built-in trackball–not to mention the macrodata refinement software UI. Really takes the indignities of corporate life to a deliciously uncomfortable extreme. One of the most tense and thrilling season 1 finales of any show I’ve seen.

Season 2: Enjoyable progression of both plot and character development, with a satisfying ending that also keeps the door open to Season 3. Though I found myself missing the in-office back-and-forth between the core innie quad during the secondary character backstory deep-dives, those episodes were important to filling in the picture and it all came together nicely in the finale. Finale was not as heart-stopping as Season 1’s, but we got to see innie Mark and outie Mark talk, Mark and Gemma get reunited (in 4 different combos), and innie Mark assert his personhood. Plus Gwendoline Christie defending her goat baby. Great all around.
